  • Director/Senior Director, Computational Biology

    Position Summary:

    As the Director of Computational Biology, you will lead, design and execute on a variety of high-dimensional computational and bioinformatics projects centered on target identification, drug discovery and translational development of oncology and immune-oncology programs. Your initial focus will be to develop novel analysis strategies to filter and distill multi-dimensional datasets, including TCGA, CCLE data as well as pathway knowledge to generate focused hypotheses that will drive target identification/validation and drug discovery. As part of this effort, you will develop cutting edge computational tools and work with informatics team to implement the analysis pipeline as well as build the supporting infrastructure, including data capture and construction of key databases. As one of the key early hires for the company, a critical component of the job will be close collaboration with internal discovery teams and external investigators. The Director of Computational Biology will be a critical thought leader in the company, collaborating closely with discovery and development scientists.

    Qualifications:

    • BA, MA, or PhD with 12 or more years of industrial or relevant academic experience
    • Strong understanding of cancer biology and cancer genetics with extensive experience in a wide range of sequencing technologies including next generation sequencing
    • Strong understanding of RNA-Seq and DNA-Seq analysis tools and methodologies, working experience with large dataset such as TCGA or CCLE
    • Deep, practical understanding of statistics
    • Demonstrated practical expertise with computational and bioinformatics technologies, algorithms and techniques
    • Proficient programming skills and computational analysis background. Experience with R, PERL or Python, SQL are desirable
    • Ability to apply and develop tools for integrative analysis and visualization of multi-dimensional datasets, integrating biochemical, cellular and genomic data using appropriate statistical methods to drive drug discovery projects
    • Ability to work effectively with internal and external collaborators to funnel emerging genomics discoveries to guide internal programs and identify partners/consultants to complement internal bioinformatics efforts
    • Exposure or working experience in Immunology and Immuno-oncology will be a plus

  • Discovery Biology Director

    Position Summary:

    Tango Therapeutics is looking for a highly creative and self-motivated Ph.D scientist with adamant intellectual curiosity and a drive to excel at the highest level to lead a team of scientists aiming to fulfill the promise of next generation cancer therapeutics. The successful candidate will work independently within in a team to discover/validate drug targets and gain insights on pathway biology. We want consummate team players who seek a highly scientifically rigorous environment for their career development in drug discovery.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Independently design, develop and execute cancer biology experiments focused on identification and validation of new drug targets, and drive responder hypothesis and PD/biomarker discovery in a team environment.
    • Proactively review literature to bring in newest scientific findings, ideas, and methods/technologies for discovery research.
    • Work cross-functionally with chemistry and High Throughput Screening to develop cell based assays and lead development and optimization
    • Responsible for facilitating drug discovery process from discovery through pre-clinical development
    • Interpret, summarize and present research findings in internal and external scientific meetings/conferences

    Qualifications:

    • Ph.D/MD in Cell & Molecular Biology or Genetics, plus 5-10 years academic or industry experience with high impact, peer reviewed publications and a proven track record of productivity and creativity
    • Proven project/ program leadership skills leading projects in biotech/ pharmaceutical industry
    • Familiarity and proven experience with managing IND-enabling studies and managing programs from discovery to the clinic
    • Exceptional cell biology skills (incl mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and microscopy), and expertise in cancer biology
    • Capability to work within a dynamic matrix environment, with strong contribution to project strategies and progression
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills; superb organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Medicinal Chemistry Principal Scientist

    Position Summary:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Be responsible for the design and execution of medicinal chemistry programs that lead to the identification of drug candidates for clinical development
    • Integrate aspects of the entire drug R&D process, with emphasis on hit finding through lead optimization, ADME/PK, pharmacology and toxicology
    • Prioritize medicinal chemistry plans and manage external chemists and collaborations to deliver small molecule development candidates on aggressive time lines
    • Actively follow and integrate scientific advancements and literature within the area of research interest

    Job Responsibilities:

    • PhD in Organic Chemistry and 7 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, with demonstrated success in lead optimization programs
    • In-depth knowledge of the entire drug discovery process, with expertise and demonstrated strong skills in medicinal chemistry drug design and discovery
    • Experience functioning within a strong multi-disciplinary team and utilizing physicochemical, biochemical, ADME/PK, and pharmacological data to drive medicinal chemistry strategies is required
    • Success in applying modern and emerging methodologies and technologies to the synthesis of small molecule drug candidates
    • Strong organizational and communication skills within a matrix driven organization
    • Prior experience acting as project or chemistry team lead preferred
    • A record of success toward clinical candidates is essential

  • Discovery Biology Research Associate

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative research associate with molecular biology expertise to support molecular based screening using siRNA and CRISPR screening technology. The successful candidate will contribute as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary discovery team dedicated to the development of a novel class of therapeutics. The candidate should be a scientifically motivated, self-starter, capable of independently conceiving, conducting, and critically analyzing his/her own innovative research with minimal supervision. Strong presentation skills, communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment will also be vital.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BS/BA/MS in a relevant field (molecular biology, oncology, virology, biotechnology, immunology, stem cell biology)
    • 3 years of relevant research experience, industry experience preferred
    • Experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology (cloning, plasmid preparation, qPCR) required
    • Flow Cytometry or fluorescence microscopy experience required
    • Experience with assay development and scale up for high throughput assays will be favorably considered
    • Protein purification experience a plus

  • Lead Immunologist

    Position Summary:

    We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled leader with a strong background in Immuno-oncology/ Immunology to join our team, drug discovery experiences will be a plus

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a project team leader for early stage targets: define the project strategy and build cross functional teams to drive project progression
    • Devise and execute cancer immunology experiments to support projects from target identification and validation to clinical candidate selection and translational research
    • Establish novel mechanistic insights to identify novel I-O targets
    • Work with CROs and academic collaborators to develop and perform assays to assess the impact of small molecule modulators, shRNA, and/or CRISPR-mediated knockout on cancer and immune cell proliferation/differentiation as well as pathway-based biomarkers

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Ph.D. in immunology, Immuno-oncology or related field with 8+ years of industry experience

  • Scientist, Cancer Immunology

    Position Summary:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the discovery and testing of novel cancer immunotherapeutic candidates.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Designing and conducting experiments aimed at immunomodulation of cellular responses in vitro
    • Developing cellular assays including cancer and immune cell co-culture based assays and ex vivo analyses involving complex flow based analyses
    • Leveraging in vivo model systems to assess efficacy and mechanism of action of candidate therapeutics
    • Conducting functional genomics screens to identify novel targets
    • Training and working closely with research associates
    • Analyzing data and presenting results in a group setting
    • Keeping abreast of new developments in the scientific literature and proposing creative solutions to experimental problems

    Qualifications:

    • PhD or MD in Immunology or a related field with 2+ years of postdoctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting
    • Special consideration will be given to those individuals with experience in cancer immunotherapy
    • Extensive hands-on experience with: flow cytometry and immunological phenotyping, isolation and manipulation of human blood and blood components, in vitro T cell functional assays, in vivo mouse model systems
    • Research experience with CRISPR technology will be favorably considered

  • Computational Biologist

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking an innovative, collaborative and enthusiastic computational scientist to work on a variety of high-dimensional bioinformatics projects centered on target identification, drug discovery and translational research. The individual will integrate internal and external datasets, including next generation sequence data. The successful candidate will be one who can develop novel methods, analysis strategies and tools to filter and distill multi-dimensional datasets to generate focused hypotheses to drive primary research. A critical component of the job will be the close collaboration with multi-disciplinary internal discovery teams and external collaborators. This individual will be a critical thought leader in the company, collaborating closely with discovery and development scientists.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Design and evaluate integrative approaches to the analysis of NGS cancer exome and transcriptome data, as well as other high-throughput data types
    • Apply machine learning/statistical-based approaches to establish and benchmark predictive models of biological/chemical data
    • Develop innovative, robust, analysis pipelines that can be applied in a research and clinical setting
    • Develop and contribute to external collaborations and partnerships
    • Liaise with lab scientists and software engineers as a project team member and provide expertise as a scientific resource
    • Working knowledge of oncology and/or immunology preferred, experience with planning of clinical trials a plus

    Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics or a related discipline + 3-5 years’ experience of applied research in either an academic or industry setting
    • Expertise in computational biology, genomics and other high-throughput data platforms with an aptitude to apply experimental methods to understand disease biology and drug discovery
    • Significant experience in the analysis of high-throughput DNA and RNA high-throughput sequencing data, including alignment, quality measurements, variant calling, fusion discovery and transcript quantification
    • Demonstrated ability to formulate and test hypotheses by designing and implementing computational approaches, ability to effectively interpret and communicate conclusions from complex data is essential
    • Other ideal areas of scientific expertise:
      • Fundamental statistics and machine learning applications to life sciences
      • Experience analyzing protein sequences
      • Predictive modeling, benchmarking
      • Experience with mining public data sets, such as TCGA
    • Technical proficiencies should include:
